What you can plug display glasses into

Wired display glasses are a screen with no inputs of their own, so the device you plug in does all the work. The rule is short: a USB-C port that outputs DisplayPort video (DP Alt Mode) connects directly with the included cable, and anything else needs an adapter. XREAL publishes the clearest list, so this page uses it as the reference and notes where VITURE, Rokid and ASUS differ. Power matters as much as video: XREAL's One family has no battery and runs entirely off the connected device. Consoles are where most people get stuck, especially the Nintendo Switch, which has no direct route.

ModelStatusWhat it needs
XREAL xbx a01+On sale USB-C DP Alt Mode video required (5V/1A). XREAL lists iPhone, iPad, Steam Deck, ROG Ally and PC. Engadget's review says it does not work with Nintendo Switch 1/2 (press). No head tracking (0DoF), so no Anchor mode (press).[2]
ROG XREAL R1On sale Direct USB-C (DP Alt Mode): ROG Ally, Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, iPhone 15/16 series, Android phones with DP Alt Mode, MacBook Pro/Air, ROG laptops. Desktop PCs, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch connect through the included ROG Control Dock (HDMI 2.0 x2, DisplayPort 1.4). 240Hz depends on the source; XREAL says Switch and phones may be limited to 60Hz.[3]
XREAL 1SOn sale Wired glasses with no battery: the source device powers them and sends video over USB-C. XREAL says the port must support DisplayPort video output (DP Alt Mode) and supply 5V/1A. Direct connection, per XREAL: iPhone 15/16/17 series (USB-C; XREAL's user guide excludes iPhone 16e), Galaxy S series, iPad Pro (4th gen), Android phones/tablets with DP output, Steam Deck/Steam Deck OLED, ROG Ally and other ROG handhelds, Windows laptops with USB-C video, MacBook Pro and select Mac mini. Android desktop mode (e.g. Samsung DeX) is supported. Switch/Switch 2/Switch OLED need the XREAL Hub plus power, or an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. PlayStation, Xbox and HDMI-only PCs need an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter that also powers the glasses. iPhone 14 and earlier (Lightning) can't connect. XREAL's list doesn't name Google Pixel. Press reports (Android Authority, March 2026) say Pixel 8 and newer support USB-C DisplayPort output; this is not on XREAL's list.[2]

Direct connection over USB-C

For XREAL 1S, One and One Pro, XREAL lists Steam Deck and Steam Deck OLED, ROG Ally and other ROG handhelds, iPhone 15, 16 and 17 (not the 16e), Galaxy S phones, other Android phones with DisplayPort output, iPad Pro (4th gen), Windows laptops with USB-C video, MacBook Pro and select Mac mini models. The port must also supply 5V/1A. Older Air 2 Pro and Air 2 store pages list a similar set. The low-cost xbx a01+ names iPhone, iPad, Steam Deck, ROG Ally and PC.

Consoles and HDMI devices

XREAL says Switch, Switch 2 and Switch OLED need the XREAL Hub with power connected, or an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. PlayStation, Xbox and HDMI-only PCs need an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter that also powers the glasses. Engadget's review says the xbx a01+ does not work with Switch 1 or 2. ROG XREAL R1 is the exception: it ships with the ROG Control Dock, which has two HDMI 2.0 inputs and DisplayPort 1.4 for desktop PCs, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Switch. XREAL warns Switch and phones may be limited to 60Hz on R1.

Power and pass-through charging

Because the One family has no battery, a phone at low charge will run down faster while you watch. The XREAL Hub adds 45W pass-through charging and passes video at up to 120Hz, and it works with One Pro, One and the Air 2 models; it does not help Lightning iPhones. VITURE's Luma also has no battery and draws power over USB-C. A console adapter has to power the glasses as well as convert the signal, so check that before buying a cheap one.

VITURE, Rokid and RayNeo

VITURE lists the same pattern for The Beast and the Luma models: iPhone 15 and 16 onward, USB-C iPads, Android phones with DisplayPort, Steam Deck and ROG Ally connect directly, while Switch, Switch 2 and HDMI consoles need a VITURE dock or adapter. Rokid Max 2 asks for a USB-C 3.1 port with display output and lists MacBook, Windows PC, iPhone 15 and Steam Deck, with PS5 and Switch through its Station or adapters. RayNeo's Air 4 Pro is also wired, but we have not verified RayNeo's own device list yet.

Questions people ask

Can I connect XREAL glasses to a Nintendo Switch?

Yes, but not directly. XREAL says the Switch needs the XREAL Hub with power connected, or an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. ROG XREAL R1 connects through its included dock instead.

Why do my glasses show nothing when plugged into my phone?

The most common reason is a USB-C port without DisplayPort video output. Check the phone's specs or the maker's list, and try another supported device to rule out the cable.

Do I need a phone at all?

No. Laptops, handhelds, tablets and consoles all work with the right connection. XREAL's Beam Pro can also drive its glasses by itself.
