Smart glasses that work with iPhone

Most smart glasses on sale today work with an iPhone, but for different reasons. Meta's glasses and Even Realities pair through an app, so what matters is your iOS version. XREAL, VITURE and Rokid Max 2 plug into the iPhone's USB-C port and mirror the screen, so what matters is the hardware: iPhone 15 or later, with one exception XREAL calls out. Samsung's products are the odd ones: the Galaxy XR headset has no documented iPhone companion support, and the announced Android XR eyewear will pair with iPhone with some features held back for Galaxy phones. The sections below go family by family. For the general picture, start with our compatibility overview.

Meta glasses on iPhone

Every current Meta model, from Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 to Meta Ray-Ban Display, uses the Meta AI app. The App Store listing asks for iOS 17.2 or later; Ray-Ban's and Oakley's FAQs still print iOS 14.4, which is out of date. Two iPhone details come from Meta's help pages. Importing photos and videos makes the iPhone join the glasses' own Wi-Fi network, so accept the "Join Wi-Fi Network" prompt. And if callers can't hear you, Meta suggests setting call audio routing to automatic, in the accessibility section of the iPhone's Settings app.

Even Realities on iPhone

Even G2 and the R1 ring use the Even Realities app, which needs iOS 16 or later. That is a lower bar than Meta's app, so an older iPhone that Meta no longer supports may still run it. Notifications pass from the phone over Bluetooth. Translate, Conversate, Navigate and Even AI need the phone to be online, so the glasses are only as connected as the iPhone in your pocket. Even's support pages give one compatibility list for both platforms.

Wired display glasses need a USB-C iPhone

XREAL lists the iPhone 15, 16 and 17 series for direct connection to XREAL 1S and the One family, and its user guide excludes the iPhone 16e. iPhone 14 and earlier use Lightning and cannot connect. VITURE lists iPhone 15 and 16 and later. ROG XREAL R1 lists the iPhone 15 and 16 series, and XREAL warns that phones may be limited to 60Hz rather than the glasses' top refresh rate. Rokid lists the iPhone 15 for Rokid Max 2.

Samsung, Google and Apple

Google says its announced intelligent eyewear pairs with both Android and iOS phones. Samsung's own release adds that some features may need a compatible Galaxy device, and that gesture control needs a Galaxy Watch9, which does not pair with iPhone. The Galaxy XR headset documents no iPhone companion support at all. Apple has announced no glasses; MacRumors, citing Bloomberg, reports Apple's first pair would focus on iPhone and Siri integration, with a late 2027 target. See our rumor tracker.

Questions people ask

What iOS version do Ray-Ban Meta glasses need?

The Meta AI app's App Store listing asks for iOS 17.2 or later. Ray-Ban's FAQ still says iOS 14.4, but the store listing is what decides whether the app installs.

Do XREAL glasses work with the iPhone 16e?

XREAL's user guide excludes the iPhone 16e from its direct-connection list. The other iPhone 15, 16 and 17 models are listed.

Can I use Meta Ray-Ban Display with an iPhone?

Yes. It uses the same Meta AI app, and the Neural Band pairs through that app too. You need a Meta account and an iOS version the app supports.
