XREAL Eye

XREAL Eye is a pair of AR glasses with a camera from XREAL. It starts at $99 in the United States. XREAL sells or supports it in 27 countries. XREAL Eye went on sale recently.

XREAL Eye is an accessory: a small camera that slots into the bridge of One series glasses. It does two jobs. It adds 6DoF tracking, so the virtual screen can stay anchored in the room as you move about, not only as you turn your head. It also captures photos and short videos from your point of view. XREAL's spec page lists a 12MP sensor at f/2.25, video at 1600x1200 and 30fps with 60fps optional, and 1080p first-person recording with XREAL One. Clips max out at two minutes, and files are saved to a folder named XREAL/DCIM/. Recording mixed-reality video, with the virtual screen in the shot, needs Beam Pro.

Good fit

One series owners who want the screen pinned in place while moving around a room, or a quick point-of-view camera for short clips.

Look elsewhere if

Skip it if you own Air series glasses, which XREAL's Eye pages don't list, or if you want a camera with a documented recording light. For camera glasses with a capture LED, see Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2).

Questions people ask

Where do XREAL Eye photos and videos go?

XREAL says they are saved to the XREAL/DCIM/ folder. If captured files show 0 KB, XREAL has a troubleshooting entry for that problem.

Does XREAL Eye work in spatial anchor mode?

Yes, adding 6DoF anchoring is its main job. XREAL's support pages cover a known issue where the display goes blank after switching to spatial anchor mode with Eye attached.

Does XREAL Eye need charging?

No. It has no battery and draws power from the glasses, and XREAL says its firmware is updated through XREAL One system updates, not as a separate download.

How do I get photos off XREAL Eye?

Captures are stored on the glasses, which XREAL says have 2GB of built-in storage, in the XREAL/DCIM/ folder. Connect the glasses in data transfer mode to copy them to a computer.

How much does XREAL Eye cost?

$99 in the United States, £99 in the United Kingdom, €119 in Germany, per XREAL's list prices.

Which countries is XREAL Eye sold in?

XREAL lists 27 countries, shown in the section above. Bought elsewhere, it may work, but features and support can be missing.
