No sound from the glasses

Applies to XREAL 1S, XREAL One and XREAL One Pro.

Silence from XREAL One series glasses is usually a routing problem. On a Mac or Windows PC, the computer may still send sound to its own speakers, so the glasses must be chosen as the output device and neither system volume nor the glasses' menu audio can be muted. On Switch, PlayStation or Xbox, the glasses' audio protocol needs to be set to DP mode from the Sound menu. XREAL warns against switching the protocol often, because it can affect the display. XREAL explains the two audio protocols: UAC mode and DP mode. Most devices with DP video output also handle UAC audio, while HDMI sources may need DP mode before sound plays.

Official steps

  1. On Mac or Windows, set the output device to the XREAL glasses, make sure system volume isn't muted, check the glasses' menu audio isn't muted, then try switching the audio protocol (don't switch it often, as that can affect the display).
  2. On Switch, PlayStation or Xbox, double-press the Quick Button for the menu, open Sound, set the audio protocol to DP mode, and make sure volume is on.

Still not working?

If sound is still missing with the right output and protocol, try another cable and source device to rule out the port. Then contact XREAL support with the glasses model, the source device, the cable, and the audio protocol setting you used.

Questions people ask

Why shouldn't I keep changing the audio protocol?

XREAL says frequent switching can affect the display.

Is a sound fault covered by XREAL's warranty?

XREAL's warranty runs one year from delivery and needs your purchase order and the serial number. In the EU and UK it sits alongside your consumer-law rights, not in place of them.

What is the difference between UAC and DP audio mode?

They are the two audio protocols the glasses use. XREAL says most devices with DP video output support UAC audio, and devices using HDMI output may need DP mode.
