Armoury Crate doesn't show R1 settings

Applies to ROG XREAL R1.

ASUS gamers often look for ROG XREAL R1 settings in Armoury Crate and find nothing. XREAL's answer is that the controls live in a different ASUS tool: DisplayWidget Center, which handles brightness, contrast, refresh rate and multi-screen settings. The glasses themselves work without any app. You only need DisplayWidget Center if you want to change those settings from the computer. XREAL states it plainly: Armoury Crate does not integrate settings for R1 glasses. Settings in DisplayWidget Center are adjusted with the mouse, like other ASUS display tools.

Official steps

  1. Install ASUS DisplayWidget Center to adjust R1 brightness, contrast, refresh rate and multi-screen settings. No dedicated app is required to use R1.

Steps from the maker's support pages.[1]

Still not working?

If DisplayWidget Center does not see the R1, reconnect the glasses, update the app, and try a different port or the ROG Control Dock. If that fails, contact XREAL or ASUS support with your Windows version, the DisplayWidget Center version and how the R1 is connected. XREAL's own support is reachable through its website contact form or support@xreal.com.

Questions people ask

Do I need an app to use the ROG XREAL R1?

No. XREAL says no dedicated app is required. DisplayWidget Center is only for adjusting settings.

What can ASUS DisplayWidget Center change on the R1?

Brightness, contrast, refresh rate and multi-screen settings, according to XREAL.

Will Armoury Crate add R1 settings later?

XREAL has not said. Its current answer is that Armoury Crate does not integrate R1 settings and DisplayWidget Center is the tool to use.

Can I adjust the R1 without a PC?

The R1 has buttons on the glasses. DisplayWidget Center is optional and only needed for settings you want to change from the computer.

Who supports the R1, ASUS or XREAL?

XREAL's support site hosts the R1 troubleshooting, and the glasses are co-branded with ASUS Republic of Gamers. For DisplayWidget Center itself, ASUS support is the natural contact.
