Garmin and Strava integration

Hear real-time workout stats from a paired Garmin watch, auto-capture clips at milestones, and share to Strava with stats overlays.[1]

Oakley Meta Vanguard is Meta's sports model, and its Garmin and Strava links are the reason runners and cyclists look at it. Paired with a Garmin watch, the glasses can tell you your pace or heart rate on request, light an LED in your peripheral vision to show if you are on target, and record clips automatically at milestones. Strava then takes the footage with your stats drawn over it. Meta has not published country limits for the integration. For a broader shortlist, see glasses for running and cycling.

Where it works

Ten of the biggest markets are shown. A tick needs an official statement for that country; "Not confirmed" means the maker hasn't said either way. For any other country use the lookup.

How it works

Connect Garmin and Strava in the Meta AI app. During a workout, ask "Hey Meta, what's my pace?" or "Hey Meta, how am I doing?" and the glasses read back the live numbers from the watch. Meta says the status LED can light in your view to show at a glance if you are on target for a metric you set, such as heart rate or pace. Autocapture with Garmin records video when you hit distance milestones or push your heart rate, speed or elevation. Afterwards, the Meta AI app can overlay your metrics on photos and video and share them to Strava, Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp. Linking Garmin Connect, Apple Health or Health Connect also adds activity summaries in the app.

Turn it on

  1. Connect Garmin and Strava in the Meta AI app.
  2. Ask "Hey Meta, what's my pace?" during a workout.

Questions people ask

Do I need a Garmin watch?

For live stats, the LED target cue and milestone autocapture, yes. Strava sharing with overlays is done in the Meta AI app.

Does it work with Apple Watch?

Meta's material describes Garmin for live stats. Apple Health and Health Connect are named for activity summaries in the app, not for live stats.
