Autocapture (Early Access)

Meta AI decides when to take photos or short clips for you during an activity. Early Access Program members only.

Autocapture hands the shutter to Meta AI. During an activity, the glasses decide when something is worth a photo or a short clip and take it for you, so you can ride, hike or play with your kids without reaching for the capture button. It is an Early Access feature, in English, in the US and Canada. Meta lists Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, Oakley Meta HSTN and Oakley Meta Vanguard as compatible, and states that it does not work on Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 or Meta Ray-Ban Display.

Where it works

Ten of the biggest markets are shown. A tick needs an official statement for that country; "Not confirmed" means the maker hasn't said either way. For any other country use the lookup.

How it works

Meta has not published the logic behind the choice of moments. The feature uses the glasses camera and Meta AI to pick moments, and captures go to the glasses' gallery like any other photo or video, ready to import in the Meta AI app. The capture LED lights whenever the camera records, so people around you still get the same signal. A separate feature with a similar name, autocapture with Garmin, works differently: it records at workout milestones from a paired Garmin watch, and Meta lists it more widely, in several languages. See Garmin and Strava integration for that version.

Questions people ask

Is autocapture the same as Garmin autocapture?

No. Meta AI autocapture picks moments itself and is in Early Access. Garmin autocapture records at workout milestones from a paired watch and Meta lists it for all markets where Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta are sold.

Will people know the glasses are recording?

Yes. The capture LED lights whenever the camera takes photos or video, including automatic captures.
