Best smart glasses for blind and low-vision users

Some smart glasses can describe what is in front of you or connect you with a person who can. On Meta's camera glasses, Be My Eyes starts a hands-free video call from the glasses camera to a sighted volunteer, and Meta AI's look and ask can answer questions about what you are facing, including menus and text. Live AI keeps a session open so you can keep asking without the wake word. These features depend on language and country. Treat the glasses as one more tool alongside a cane, guide dog or screen reader, not a replacement. Glasses without a camera, such as Ray-Ban Meta Audio and Even G2, can't run these features.

  1. Best overall: Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3)
  2. Best value: Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2)
  3. Lowest price: Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova)
  4. Oakley alternative: Oakley Meta HSTN

How we ranked

We ranked camera glasses by the accessibility features their makers list (Be My Eyes, look and ask, Live AI), the countries and languages where those features are published as available, rated battery, prescription range and US price. Be My Eyes publishes its own country list; Meta's help pages cover Live AI. We did not test with blind or low-vision users, so confirm each feature in your language before relying on it.

1. Best overall

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3)

From
$449
Display
No
Camera
Yes
Prescription
-12.00 to +6.00 total power (Gen 3 Aviator: -6.00 to +4.00)

Gen 3 runs Be My Eyes, look and ask and Live AI like the other Meta camera glasses, and adds the newest hardware: a 12MP camera with a 100-degree view, six mics for clearer calls in noise, and 9 hours of mixed use. Its customizable action button can be set as a shortcut, which saves saying the wake word each time.

Watch out: Store pages confirm it in only eight countries so far, at $449. Be My Eyes' FAQ names Ray-Ban and Oakley Meta glasses generally, not Gen 3 by name.

2. Best value

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2)

-12.00 to +6.00 total power

Gen 2 is listed for Be My Eyes in all 21 countries Be My Eyes publishes, from Australia to the UAE, at a $379 launch price. You get the same look and ask and Live AI, 8 hours of typical use, a case with 48 more hours and the full -12.00 to +6.00 Rx range. Rated IPX4.

Watch out: Live AI is English only and rolling out in the US and Canada, and Meta notes it uses more battery. Be My Eyes depends on the language Meta AI is set to.

-12.00 to +2.25 total power

From $299, Meta Glasses have a 12MP camera and the same Meta AI app, and Be My Eyes is listed for them in the countries Be My Eyes publishes. Every frame style takes prescriptions, and Meta rates the battery at 8 hours plus 40 from the case. Live AI and look and ask are listed for the line too.

Watch out: The Rx range isn't confirmed on an official page, and Meta hasn't published a water rating. Live AI is English only for now.

If the HSTN frame fits you better, it has the same 12MP camera and the same Be My Eyes, look and ask and Live AI support. Oakley lists 8 hours of typical use plus 19 hours of standby, and the -12.00 to +6.00 Rx range can be chosen at purchase. $399. It is IPX4. Splash-rated IPX4.

Watch out: One frame shape only, and Oakley's own country FAQ is out of date, so check availability in your country first.

Questions people ask

Which languages does Be My Eyes support on Meta glasses?

Meta says Be My Eyes call a volunteer is currently available in English in supported countries. Be My Eyes adds that it starts with a voice command, so it depends on the language Meta AI is set to, and not every Meta AI language supports the command yet.

Does Be My Eyes work on Meta Ray-Ban Display or Ray-Ban Meta Audio?

Not on Audio, which has no camera. Meta's Display release notes added Be My Eyes support in April 2026, but Be My Eyes' FAQ lists only Ray-Ban and Oakley Meta AI glasses, so check in the Meta AI app. Ray-Ban Stories is not supported.

How do I set it up?

Pair the glasses in the Meta AI app, link your Be My Eyes account under Accessibility in the app settings, then say 'Hey Meta, Be My Eyes' to start a call. Our Be My Eyes how-to has the full steps.
