Best smart glasses in 2026, ranked by published specs
Most people shopping for smart glasses want a camera, open-ear audio and a voice assistant in a frame that passes for ordinary glasses. Meta's Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta-branded lines make up most of that choice, and Meta also publishes the most detail: feature availability by country, prescription ranges and battery ratings. Display glasses are a smaller, pricier group with clearer trade-offs, so we include the strongest two. Every device here is on sale now. Worth waiting for: Samsung and Google's Android XR eyewear with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, which the Korea Herald reports for November 2026, and Ray-Ban Meta Audio, which Meta says ships in the US on 13 October 2026.
- Best overall: Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3)
- Best value Ray-Ban: Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2)
- Lowest-priced Meta camera glasses: Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova)
- Best with a display: Meta Ray-Ban Display
- Best without a camera: Even G2
How we ranked
We ranked on-sale devices using published data only: US starting price, prescription range, phone requirements, the countries where the maker sells them, water rating, rated battery hours and the features Meta or the maker lists as available. Battery figures are the makers' own. We have not worn or tested any of these glasses. Where official pages conflict, we use the most recent official figure and note the conflict on the device page.
1. Best overall
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3)
- From
- $449
- Display
- No
- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +6.00 total power (Gen 3 Aviator: -6.00 to +4.00)
The newest Ray-Ban Meta pair has the strongest published spec among camera glasses: six microphones that Meta says cut more than 90% of background noise, a 12MP camera with a 100-degree view, 9 hours of mixed use and 50 more from the case. Most frames take prescriptions from -12.00 to +6.00. It runs the same Meta AI features as older models, including live translation and Be My Eyes, and adds a customizable action button.
Watch out: Store pages confirm it in only eight countries so far. At $449 it costs more than Gen 2, and the limited Aviator has a narrower Rx range of -6.00 to +4.00.
2. Best value Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2)
- From
- $379
- Display
- No
- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +6.00 total power
Gen 2 does almost everything Gen 3 does for a $379 launch price: 3K video, 8 hours of typical use, 48 hours from the case, IPX4 and the same -12.00 to +6.00 Rx range. It is sold in far more countries, including Japan, South Korea, India and Brazil, and Meta lists Early Access features such as autocapture for it.
Watch out: Five mics instead of six and no customizable action button. We couldn't confirm the current US price after Gen 3 launched, so check before you buy.
3. Lowest-priced Meta camera glasses
Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova)
- From
- $299
- Display
- No
- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +2.25 total power
From $299 in the US, Meta's own-brand line shares Gen 2's chipset, camera, speakers, battery and storage, according to UploadVR, in five styles including Adventurer and Starfire. Meta rates it at 8 hours plus 40 from the case and says every frame is prescription-compatible. It launched with the Muse Spark version of Meta AI in the US and Canada.
Watch out: Meta excludes Meta Glasses from conversation focus. Published Rx ranges conflict, and Meta hasn't stated a water rating. The cheaper $249 Adventurer with a plug-in case is a pre-order until 23 October.
4. Best with a display
Meta Ray-Ban Display
- From
- $799
- Display
- Yes
- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -4.00 to +4.00 total power (single vision only)
The only Meta glasses with a screen: full color in the right lens, controlled by the bundled Neural Band wristband. It adds live captions, message replies, a camera viewfinder and on-lens directions to the usual Meta AI features, and $799 includes the band. Meta now sells it online in the US, Canada and UK, with France, Italy and Germany following on 13 October 2026.
Watch out: Rx is limited to -4.00 to +4.00, single vision. It weighs 69 g, Meta rates it at 6 hours of mixed use, and it is sold in six countries.
5. Best without a camera
Even G2
- From
- $599
- Display
- Yes
- Camera
- No
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +12.00 (sphere, per Even's G2 pages); support center lists SPH +8.00 to -12.00 and CYL ±0.25 to ±4.00
A 36 g frame with green text in both lenses and no camera or speakers. Even lists IP65, a case with seven full recharges and Rx from -12.00 to +12.00 sphere built into the lenses. Translate, Teleprompt, Navigate and Conversate cover the main heads-up jobs, and it is sold across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America.
Watch out: No speakers, so calls and music stay on your phone or earbuds. Most features need the phone online. From $599 before prescription lenses.
Questions people ask
Do smart glasses need a subscription?
Not for the basics on the picks above, but some add-ons cost money. Meta says conversation focus is free during Early Access and 'may require a paid subscription in the future', and its hearing enhancement feature will cost $149.99 or come with Meta One. See our subscription answer for details.
Why isn't Ray-Ban Meta Audio on the list?
It's announced, not shipping: US pre-orders are open at $349 and Meta says it ships on 13 October 2026. It also has no camera, so camera features such as look and ask, Live AI and Be My Eyes don't apply.
