How we ranked
We included devices on sale with a published US price of $399 or less, counting sale prices where noted, then ranked them by feature set, prescription range, rated battery, water rating and the countries where they are sold. Prescription lenses, cases and accessories usually cost extra. We did not test any device, and prices were checked against the makers' pages in early October 2026.
1. Best overall at $399 or less
Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova)
- From
- $299
- Display

- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +2.25 total power
From $299, Meta Glasses give you a 12MP camera that records 3K, open-ear speakers, the Meta AI app, live translation and Be My Eyes, with 8 hours of rated battery and 40 more from the case. UploadVR reports they share Gen 2's chipset, camera and battery. Every frame takes prescriptions. Five styles are available.
Watch out: No official water rating, and the Rx range isn't confirmed on an official page. The Kylie and LISA editions start at $399.
2. Best Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2)
- From
- $379
- Display
- No
- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +6.00 total power
Gen 2 launched at $379 with 3K video, 8 hours of typical use, 48 hours from the case, IPX4 and Rx from -12.00 to +6.00. It is still on Ray-Ban's US lineup next to Gen 3 and sold in more countries than any other Meta model. Video modes include 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps, and it comes in Wayfarer, Skyler and Headliner.
Watch out: We couldn't confirm the current US price after Gen 3 launched, and prescription lenses push the total up. Five mics, not six.
3. Best Oakley
Oakley Meta HSTN
- From
- $399
- Display
- No
- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +6.00 total power
HSTN starts at $399 with the same 12MP 3K camera, five mics, 8-hour rating and IPX4 as Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, in Oakley's HSTN frame. Rx from -12.00 to +6.00 can be chosen at purchase, and Oakley lists 19 hours of standby. In Japan it launched at ¥77,220. Oakley lists 3.5 hours to recharge the case.
Watch out: Right at the limit. The Limited Edition costs $499, and Garmin and Strava stats are a Vanguard feature, not an HSTN one.
4. Best video glasses
XREAL xbx a01+
- From
- $299
- Display
- Yes
- Camera
- No
$299 on sale (regular $359) for a 1920x1080 SeeYa micro-OLED screen with HDR10, up to 120Hz, 50 degrees and 1,600 nits, plus a light shield and a surround audio mode. It weighs 62 g with the front frame, and XREAL sells prescription lenses for it. No battery to charge. Sold in the US and China.
Watch out: No head tracking, so no Anchor mode. Press reports say it doesn't work with Nintendo Switch, and the regular price is $359.
5. Cheapest audio glasses
Echo Frames (3rd Gen)
- From
- $269.99
- Display
- No
- Camera
- No
Amazon's Alexa glasses launched at $269.99, with open-ear speakers, IPX4, up to 6 hours of continuous playback and seven frame styles. There is no camera or display, and the frames are prescription-ready. Amazon lists about 3,000 retail locations for Rx lenses through its Store Finder, and Carrera versions cost $389.99. It's Alexa-only.
Watch out: US only, and the price is from the 2023 launch, so current street prices vary. No camera for look and ask.
