How to get live captions on Meta Ray-Ban Display

Live captions show a running transcript of the person in front of you, in the lens of Meta Ray-Ban Display. It is useful in loud rooms and for anyone who is hard of hearing. You open Captions from the app launcher on the glasses, start it from the Meta AI app, or say "Hey Meta, start captions". Meta says live captions on Display are currently available in English only. The first time, you'll need to download the caption language in the Meta AI app.

Start live captions on Meta Ray-Ban Display

For Meta Ray-Ban Display.

  1. From the app launcher, swipe down and select Captions.
  2. Select Captions.
  3. Or from the Meta AI mobile app: tap Glasses in the top right, tap Captions, tap Start. You can also say “Hey Meta, start captions.”
  4. To stop: say “Hey Meta, stop live captions.”, tap middle finger on thumb using Meta Neural Band, tap three fingers on your glasses’ touchpad, or tap Stop in the Meta AI mobile app.

Meta: "Live captions on Meta Ray-Ban Display is currently only available in English." First use requires downloading the caption language in the Meta AI app.

Do live captions work on Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3?

No. Live captions need a display, and Meta lists them for Meta Ray-Ban Display only.
