Neural Band gestures not recognized
Applies to Meta Neural Band.
The Neural Band reads muscle signals at the wrist, so fit matters more than with a watch. Meta says to wear it on your writing hand, just past the wrist bone, snug but comfortable, with the compute module on top. Gestures are specific too: a middle-finger double-tap wakes the display, a thumb swipe scrolls and an index-finger tap selects. A dirty band can also read poorly, and Meta says to clean it with a damp cloth, not alcohol.
Official steps
- Wear the band on the hand you write with, with the line facing you, just past the wrist bone, snug but comfortable, compute module on top.
- Use the documented gestures: double-tap middle finger on thumb to wake/sleep, swipe thumb on index finger to scroll, tap index finger on thumb to select.
- Clean the band and module with a soft damp cloth (no alcohol or solvents).
- Configure gestures in the Meta AI app; force restart or factory reset the band if problems continue.

Which wrist should the Neural Band go on?
Meta says to wear it on the hand you write with.
Could the band be the wrong size?
Yes. Meta's Display FAQ says to check that you are wearing the band correctly and that it is the right size. The band comes in three sizes, so ask the seller about an exchange if it will not sit snug.
Does sweat or rain affect the band?
Meta rates the band IPX7. If gestures get patchy after a workout or a wet walk, wipe the band and module with a soft damp cloth, without alcohol or solvents.
