Photos and videos won't import to the phone

Applies to Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova), Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2), Oakley Meta Vanguard, Meta Ray-Ban Display, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), Oakley Meta HSTN, Ray-Ban Meta Audio, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1) and Ray-Ban Stories.

Imports from Meta glasses do not travel over Bluetooth alone. The glasses create their own Wi-Fi link to the phone, which is why Meta's steps ask for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, and why iPhone users must accept the "Join Wi-Fi Network" prompt. Declining that prompt once is a common reason imports stall. Other causes in Meta's list are a pairing glitch, or glasses still paired to a different phone. On Android, a stuck app process can block the transfer.

Official steps

  1. Make sure the glasses are paired, switched on and have pending captures; the phone needs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on.
  2. Tap the import (download) button in the Meta AI app; on iPhone accept the 'Join Wi-Fi Network' prompt, because transfers use the glasses' own Wi-Fi.
  3. Restart the glasses (off/on) and restart the app.
  4. If it still fails, unpair and re-pair the glasses and make sure they are not paired to another phone.
  5. On Android, if you see update/import errors, force-stop the Meta AI app in phone settings and try again.

Steps from the maker's support pages.[1]

Still not working?

If imports keep failing after a re-pair, contact Meta support and say how many captures are pending and whether any partial transfers appear. Before a factory reset, remember that captures not yet imported live only on the glasses; ask support first if you need them.

Questions people ask

Do I need Wi-Fi to import photos?

You don't need a home network, but the phone's Wi-Fi must be on, because transfers use the glasses' own Wi-Fi.
