Translate
Real-time speech translation shown as text on the lenses; tap to see the original text alongside.[1]
Translate on the Even G2 works like subtitles for a conversation. The other person speaks, and the translation appears as text in your lenses, with no audio. A tap on the TouchPad switches between translation only and a full-screen view with the original text above the translation. Even Realities supports a long list of spoken languages, though a few can only be translated from, not into. It fits travelers and people in multilingual workplaces who prefer reading to listening. For a spoken alternative, compare Meta's live translation and glasses for translation.
Where it works
Ten of the biggest markets are shown. A tick needs an official statement for that country; "Not confirmed" means the maker hasn't said either way. For any other country use the lookup.
confirmed · maker says not available · not confirmed · announced · model not sold there
- Even G2: confirmed in 41 countries; languages: Cantonese, Catalan, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Swiss High German, German (Germany), Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Slovak, Slovenian, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Arabic, Bangla and Hindi.
How it works
In the Even Realities app, open Translate, choose From (the language to recognize) and To (the language to display), and tap Start. From the glasses menu, Translate starts with your last language pair and microphone. You can also say "Hey Even, translate from Chinese to English". Pick the voice input before you start: the glasses microphones or the phone's. Even Realities says there is no time limit for a session, though low battery or low memory on the glasses or phone can interrupt it. Each session is saved under Translate, then Records, in the app. Two-way translation only applies when both languages support it; otherwise it stays one-way.
Turn it on
- In the Even Realities app, open Translate, choose the From and To languages, then tap Start.
- Or open the Menu on the glasses, swipe to Translate and single-tap the TouchPad.
- Or say "Hey Even, translate from [language] to [language]".
Tips
- Choose the phone microphone and point the phone at the speaker in a noisy place.
- Use the original-plus-translation view when you are learning the language.
- Check your pair is two-way before relying on it for both sides of a conversation.
Limits
- Arabic, Bengali and Hindi can be translated from but not displayed, per Even Realities.
- Two-way mode excludes several languages, including Cantonese and Brazilian Portuguese.
- Long sessions can stop if the glasses or phone run low on battery or memory.
